Scribe: In what genre(s) do you write?
Andrea Rand: Middle Grade, so far.
Scribe: What authors would you like to have coffee or a beer with and which beverage?
AR: Stephen King and J.K. Rowling. I hate the taste of coffee so a draft of cold, light beer, or even better a glass of wine.
Scribe: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what book would you want to have with you to keep you sane?
AR: The Bible for inspiration and Gone With the Wind to keep me entertained. I never get bored of Scarlett!
Scribe: What have you learned from your association with the Writers’ League?
AR: To be honest, I am so new that I haven’t gotten a chance yet to dig into everything the Writers’ League has to offer, but I certainly plan to in 2016!
Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?
AR: A Pixar film in Hollywood! Hey, it doesn’t hurt to dream big. I do plan to have my sequel out by the end of next year, and hope to slowly grow my readership within Texas and beyond.
Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world? An opportunity for blatant self-promotion!
AR: Blatant self-promotion, awesome! I do have a website. If there is one piece of consistent feedback that I have gotten through the years, it’s that my writing is very kid-friendly. In fact, as part of my writing process I send my manuscript to several beta readers who are kids, and one of the key questions I want answered is if they ever get bored at any point in the story, and if so, what part. I want my books to be entertaining above all else, yet if you visit my website you will see that I’m marketing my book, The Chronicles of Kibblestan: Revolution as a fantastical adventure with a patriotic twist. My book will make kids feel good about America, which might be a bonus for parents and teachers.
